1 Preface

This book documents the LongGold project, a longitudinal study on the development of musical and other cognitive and social abilities during adolescence.

1.1 Definitions

var_name: names of variables in LongGold dataset

var_stat_dyn static = values for the same ID should be identical across all measurement time points dynamic = values for the same ID can vary across measurement time points

var_info_type id = ID variable time = time variable aux = auxiliary variable self_report_score = measurement value from self-report questionnaire test_score = measurement value from ‘objective’ test, mostly IRT scores test_error = IRT meausurement error accompanying test_score score = measurement value from administrative/school data or derived from several sources, i.e. no direct measurement from self-report or test

item_level_data TRUE = is a scale or an aggregate score and we have item-level data for all items o the scale FALSE = is a scale or an aggregate score and we don’t have item-level data is_no_scale = is not a scale or an aggregate score, i.e. has no separate item values

analysis_set_core TRUE = score variables that are useful for analyses and that should have data in the several test waves FALSE = Either not a score variable or data in only very few test waves

analysis_set_extended TRUE = score variables that are useful for analyses and that should have data in at least one test wave FALSE = Not a score variable
